I studied 3D design, specializing in ceramic table ware, followed by post graduate studies, then worked for many years in publishing, film and television.
Book illustration gave me a way back into making art where I have been able to illustrate over twenty five books for both children and adults for a wide range of publishers.
Watercolour is my preferred medium for my illustration work and I often combine this with pen, ink or pencil.
My prints are unique and hand-made, usually in small limited editions of no more than thirty. I use the relief print as my main method of working, using either lino or wood from which to cut the image, but often combining the print with paint and collage and I also make collagraph prints.
I use specialist art paper such as Fabriano or Somerset Satin as well as fine Japanese papers, the latter is particularly good for use in the chine colle process.
Much of the subject matter for my work, particularly my prints, derives from images and stories of animals and birds, often with a stylized treatment much influenced by ethnic art.
I show my work at galleries around the UK and in Europe, and for the last nineteen years I have exhibited at the annual London Affordable Art Fair in Battersea, the Brighton Art Fair, and with the Association of Illustrators at the Mall Galleries in London and I have been selected to show my work at PRINTFEST in Cumbria, an exhibition of print makers from around the UK.
I am a member of Oxford Printmakers, the Association of Illustrators and Oxford Art Society.
Please do check my exhibitions page to discover where I am exhibiting next and I look forward to meeting you there.
